Australia Post is part of the fabric of Australian life. Through its people, products, services and community involvement, the corporation contributes to everyday life and business success throughout the nation. Australia Post is part of Australia’s history and future. It is part of every day.
Australia Post is a progressive and commercial government business enterprise operating under the Australian Postal Corporation Act 1989. It is a self-funding business that uses its assets and resources to earn profits, which can be reinvested in the business or returned as dividends to its shareholder, the Commonwealth Government.
Under its community service obligations, Australia Post is also committed to providing an accessible, affordable and reliable letter service for all Australians wherever they reside. The corporation employs 34,842 full-time and part-time staff; reaches more than 10 million Australian addresses; operates 4,462 postal outlets; and serves more than a million customers in postal outlets every business day.
Australia Post operates in three core areas: letters, retail and agency services, and parcels and logistics. It continues to strengthen its capabilities – and extend its range of products and services – to meet customers’ needs and help them succeed. Every day, the corporation works with consumers, small to medium-sized businesses, major corporations, suppliers and partners towards these goals.
Australia Post also has strong international connections, through its membership of the Universal Postal Union (whose member countries form the largest physical distribution network in the world), its joint logistics venture with China Post and its alliance with other leading postal administrations in the Asia–Pacific region.
Australia Post is proud to again be a sponsor of the Australian Open – a world-class international event that not only brings excitement, passion and pride to our nation, but also showcases Australian sporting talent.
